Lagos – A 23-year-old transport conductor, Ahmed Abbas, was on Thursday condemned to five years detainment for medicate selling, as indicated by a decision of a Federal High Court, Lagos.
Abbas was summoned by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on a charge of trafficking in Cannabis Sativa (hemp).
The convict, who was not spoken to by a legal counselor, had confessed
to the charge and asked the court for mercy.
In his judgment, Justice Rlwan Aikawa, said he found the man blameworthy of the offense as charged.
Aikawa, thusly, condemned him to five years detainment, starting from the date of his capture.
Earleir, the Prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan of the NDLEA, said the offense was conferred on Feb. 14 at Agege Motor Park, a Lagos suburb.
Aernan said the blamed was captured with one kg for hemp and was seized from him.
He offered in confirm a composed articulation of the blamed, a demand for logical guide frame, a test investigation shape and also the majority of show which was conceded and set apart as displays.
The offense repudiated Section 11 (c) of the NDLEA Act, Laws of the Federation 2004.
