Awka – CONTROVERSY has trailed the death of a secondary school teacher in Anambra State, Miss Rita Odilinye of Starlight Secondary School, Ogidi in Idemili North local government area following reports that she was killed by the mother and a relation of her schoolgirl who she allegedly flogged for not carrying out her duty. Miss Odilinye was until her death, an Igbo language teacher and class mistress in the school.

A source in the school said the teacher come to the school only to discover that her class was not swept and when she asked the students in the class why the class was not swept, she was informed that it was the turn of one Chinaza Okafor to sweep the class.
The source stated: "The student revealed to her that Chinaza, who should clear the class before going home the earlier day after school expulsion as they used to do, did not clear it." And when questioned by the educator, she demonstrated unyielding in her reaction which enraged the instructor and she whipped her."As she was being flagellated, she came up short on the class and scaled the school fence since the entryway was bolted.
She made straight to their home where she answered to her mom that she was flagellated by her instructor for not clearing the classroom."Furiously, the mother went to the school furnished with sticks, joined by her little girl and one other individual to exact retribution the lashing dispensed to her daughter."On landing at the school, the mother couldn't see the educator as she was said to have gone out to go to a meeting of tuition based school administrators."Efforts made by different instructors in the school to quiet down the bothered people and enable the school experts to deal with the case fell on hard of hearing ears."According to the source, as the abused people saw the educator at the passageway of the school entryway while she was coming back from the meeting, they stood up to her and amid a fight, she slumped.
It was accumulated that she was raced to a close-by healing facility where she was affirmed dead.The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, accountable for the territory, Mr. Stamp Ijarafu who affirmed the episode, said examination concerning the issue had begun."We have captured the mother, the girl and one other individual. The body of the educator has been stored at Iyi-Enu Hospital morgue, while examination is progressing," the DPO said.
