For allegedly locking up her 14-year-old
housemaid in a toilet for 20 days, a 34-year-old
woman, Onyinye Chuks, was yesterday taken
before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s court in
Lagos State.Chuks, a broker, who lives at 19, Ojo Street,
Shasha, a suburb of Lagos, is confronting a four-
check charge verging on attack.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Raphael Donny, told
the court the offenses were conferred
between May 2 and 22 at the living arrangement of the
denounced.
Donny said that the denounced claimed that the
housemaid stole her cash, beat her and
"bolted the young lady inside her can, nourished her once
furthermore, didn't enable her to clean up or change
her garments for those weeks in servitude.
"It was one of the neighbors, who proved unable
bear the torment any longer that educated the
police."
The prosecutor said that taking after the report,
the police went to the house and found the young lady
in the condition.
"Thus, the charged was captured while the
young lady was taken to the healing facility for treatment,"
Donny said.
The offenses, he stated, con-travened Sections
171, 207, 245 and 285 of the Criminal Law of
Lagos State, 2015.
In any case, Chuks argued not blameworthy to the
charges favored against her.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Davies Abegunde,
conceded the charged N1 million safeguard with two
sureties in like aggregate.
Abegunde requested the blamed to pay
N200,000 into the Court Registrar's record
as a major aspect of the safeguard conditions and dismissed
the case until June 21 for say.
