Biafra protesters insist on presence in S’East, S’South
No fewer than 20 members of Ralph Uwazuruike’s group of the Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) were yesterday arrested in Enugu during their rally to mark the Biafra Day celebration.
Members of the group had vowed to hoist Biafra flags in the Southeast yesterday after their procession to mark the day.
The police confirmed the arrest, and cautioned that they would not allow any individuals or groups of persons to breach peace in the state.
The police confirm the capture, and advised that they would not permit any people or gatherings of people to break peace in the state.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police, Ebere Amaraizu, said in opposition to charges that the order captured 30 expert Biafra fomenters, just 15 were captured in the state.
The Army, Police and other security organizations expanded their air observation in the state yesterday as police and military fly contenders drifted around the air.
The 82 Army Division, Enugu, affirmed that the activity was to maintain a strategic distance from a break of peace.
In the interim, the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) dissented in Ikom, Cross River State, demanding the nearness of Biafran government in the South-South and Southeast locales.
Many its individuals from Ogoja, Obubra, Calabar and Ugep met on Ikom for a tranquil rally.
The rally was to praise the eighteenth commemoration of the statement of Biafra by Uwazuruike and MASSOB Zonal Leader, Samuel Okah.

"We can be great neighbors with Nigeria, learn and loan to each different as accomplices through serene means and not through savagery," the gathering said.
